10.5 Inference and simulation
Unit 10 · Statistics and inference
Ideas in this lesson
Margins of error
A stated estimate plus or minus a margin of error gives interval endpoints in the same units.
Sample size and precision
Under comparable random sampling, margin of error is approximately inversely proportional to the square root of sample size.
Simulation-based evidence
A simulation estimates how often a result at least as extreme occurs under a stated null model.
Interpret conclusions
Evidence against a null model is not proof of a hypothesis, and an interval describes a method’s long-run coverage.
