Common differences
Subtract consecutive terms in the stated order. A common difference is constant.
Find a term
Start at the first term and add the common difference the required number of times.
Recover a sequence
Use two term positions to determine the difference, then work back to the first term.
Insert arithmetic means
The number of equal gaps is one greater than the number of inserted means.
